Ring stand
A retort stand, sometimes
called a ring stand, is a piece of scientific equipment, to which clamps can
be attached to hold test tubes and other equipment such as burettes which are
most often used in titration experiments.
Radar chart
The radar chart is also known as web
chart, spider chart, star chart, star plot, cobweb chart, irregular polygon,
polar chart, or kiviat diagram.
A radar chart is a graphical
method of displaying multivariate data in the form of a two-dimensional chart
of three or more quantitative variables represented on axes starting from the
same point. The relative position and angle of the axes is typically uninformative.
Cell membrane
The semi--permeable membrane
surrounding the cytoplasm of a cell. The cell membrane is a biological membrane
that separates the interior of all cells from the outside environment.
Combustion
Combustion is a chemical
process in which a substance reacts rapidly with oxygen and gives off heat.
The
original substance is called the fuel, and the source of oxygen is called the
oxidizer. The fuel can be a solid, liquid, or gas, although for airplane propulsion
the fuel is usually a liquid.
Sterilization
Sterilization ( or sterilisation ) is a
term referring to any process that eliminates (removes) or kills (deactivates)
all forms of life and other biological agents (such as prions,
as well as viruses which some do not
consider to be alive but are biological pathogens nonetheless),
including transmissible agents (such
as fungi, bacteria, viruses, prions, spore forms, unicellular eukaryotic
organisms such as Plasmodium, etc.) present in a specified region, such as a
surface, a volume of fluid, medication, or in a compound such as biological
culture media.
Sterilization can be
achieved with one or more of the following:
Heat, chemicals, irradiation,
high pressure, and filtration. Sterilization is distinct from disinfection,
sanitization, and pasteurization in that sterilization kills, deactivates, or
eliminates all forms of life and other biological agents.
Bubble chart
A bubble chart is a type of chart that displays three
dimensions of data. Each entity with its triplet (v1, v2, v3) of associated
data is plotted as a disk that expresses two of the vi values through the
disk's xy location and the third through its size.
Cytoplasm
Cytoplasm is a thick
solution that fills each cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane. It is
mainly composed of water, salts, and proteins.

Visible light waves are the
only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see these waves as the colors of the
rainbow.
Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength
and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen together,
they make white light.
When white light shines
through a prism, the white light is broken apart into the colors of the visible
light spectrum.
Water vapor in the atmosphere can also break apart wavelengths creating a rainbow.
Cones in our eyes are
receivers for these tiny visible light waves. The Sun is a natural source for
visible light waves and our eyes see the reflection of this sunlight off the
objects around us.
The color of an object that
we see is the color of light reflected. All other colors are absorbed.
Bunsen burner
A Bunsen burner, named after
Robert Bunsen, is a common piece of laboratory equipment that produces a single
open gas flame, which is used for heating, sterilization, and combustion.The
gas can be natural gas (which is mainly methane) or a liquefied petroleum gas,
such as propane, butane, or a mixture of both.
